Information We Collect

When you visit our Website and use the Services, you may provide us with certain personally identifiable information including, but not limited to, your first name, last name, e-mail address, phone number, social security number, birth date, mailing address, Student Loan Account Information (as defined below), and Tuition.io password. We refer to all of this information as “Personal Information.” We do not collect any Personal Information from Visitors to the Website unless the Visitor provides us with the Personal Information voluntarily (for example, by registering for an account).

As described in the Terms of Use, we may provide services to your Company or to the Company that employs one of your family members to enable the Company to provide the Company Services to you. When acting as a service provider to a Company to enable a Company to provide the Company Services to you, the Company may provide us with Personal Information about you, including, but not limited to, your first name, last name, employee id, other information regarding your employment and email address. You authorize us to collect, store, and use, in accordance with this Privacy Policy, any and all such Personal Information. This Privacy Policy governs our use of this Personal Information; it does not govern, and we have no control over and will not have any responsibility or liability for, collection or use of your Personal Information by the Company that provides the Company Services to you.

When we are acting as a service provider to the Company to enable the Company to provide the Company Services to you, if your Company requires us to verify your student loan account(s) that are designated to receive Company contributions pursuant to the Company Services, we may ask you to provide a copy of your student loan statement to verify your student loan accounts that are designated to receive Company contributions pursuant to the Company Services.

You may ask us to access your student loan accounts on your behalf in order to collect certain information about your student loans. We refer to your account with a third party that maintains information about your student loans (such as a loan servicer, collection agency, bank, or other financial institution or organization) as your “Student Loan Account,” and we refer to the information we collect from your Student Loan Account as the “Student Loan Account Information.” If you provide us with your user name and password/pin and other authentication credentials in order for us to access your Student Loan Account, you authorize us (and/or our Third Party Service Providers) to access, collect, use and share your Student Loan Account Information as necessary to provide you with the Services.

We will, for example, use your Student Loan Account Information and other Personal Information to provide you with information regarding your financial situation and to help you find out whether you are eligible to restructure your student loans and to enable you to use the Services to apply for some forms of loan restructuring (such as through a federal loan program, loan consolidation, deferment, or forbearance). If you provide us in our capacity as service provider to the Company that provides the Company Services to you with your Student Loan Account Information in connection with student loan contributions made by such Company pursuant to the Company Services, we will use that information in order to apply the Company contributions towards your Student Loan Account. We will access your Student Loan Account periodically so we can make sure we have the most up to date information about your student loans and so we can provide the Company Services.

We may automatically collect other types of non-personally identifiable information when you visit the Website and use the Services such as your network location, the IP address of your computer, and what sections of the Website you visit.

The Website may use “cookie” technology to help us collect other non-personally identifiable information and to enhance your experience using the Website. Cookies are small packets of data that a web site stores on your computer’s hard drive so that your computer will “remember” information about your visit. We may allow third-party companies that are presenting advertisements on some pages of the Website to set and access their own cookies. Such third-party cookies are not governed by this Privacy Policy, but by the privacy policy of such third party. Also, the Website may use web beacons, commonly known as bots, to access our cookies within and outside our network of web sites and in connection with the Services. If you do not want the Website to place cookies on your hard drive, you may be able to turn that feature off on your computer. Please consult your Internet browser’s documentation for information on how to do this. However, if you decide not to accept cookies from our Website, the Website may not function properly.

Tuition.io does not monitor and has no responsibility for such Company’s use of your information (based on your Personal Information), or operation of the Company Services including, without limitation, the structure of the Company Services, or compliance with applicable laws.

If the Company that provides Company Services to you requires us to verify your student loan accounts that are designated to receive Company contributions pursuant to the Company Services, we may ask you to provide a copy of your student loan statement to verify your student loan accounts that are designated to receive Company contributions pursuant to the Company Services.
